Opening Day

What else could you want? The Orioles rolled out all the bells and whistles for Opening Day, starting with a giant flag arranged on the center field batting eye and an orange carpet lined from center field to second base. The players traipsed down the carpet one-by-one during the introductions, and Baltimore even scheduled a military flyover after the National Anthem.

But perhaps the most powerful pregame moment was delivered by Vice President Joe Biden, who was called upon to throw the ceremonial first pitch. Biden, who served for 36 years as the Senator for neighboring state Delaware, threw a high-and-fluttering ball from the top of the mound. After that, it was time for baseball, kicking off a long and interesting season.
