Koji Uehara addressed the media Saturday and spoke about his left hamstring ailment, which cropped up after his last start. Uehara has been limited since Tuesday and said he still hasn’t progressed to the point where he’s able to think about when he’ll pitch again.
“I’ve been working out my upper body and I’ve been biking every day,” he said via interpreter Jiwon Bang. “I’ve been getting my treatment every day, icing and ultrasound.”
Uehara said that his condition has improved, and he has maintained all along that he expects to be ready when the season starts in early April. But for now, he’s taking it slow.
“The next step will have to be me doing my conditioning, my running,” he said. “I was told to get away from running for a week. I have to consult with my trainer.”
I haven’t thought of that yet.
